The Board of
Apprenticeship Training is an autonomous
organization under Min. of Human Resource
Development, Govt. of India established with the
sole aim of improving the capability of fresh Engineers
through one year 'on the job training' in actual
working environment as Graduate / Technician/ Technician
(Vocational) apprentices under the provisions of the
Apprentices Act, 1961 amended in 1973 & 1986.
Govt. of India, has established four such Boards of
Apprenticeship/Practical Training catering to the needs
of four regions of India. These Boards are located at
Mumbai in Western Region, Kanpur in Northern Region,
Kolkatta in Eastern Region, and Chennai in Southern
Region. | |

These four
Regional Boards are authorised agencies to implement the
National Scheme of Apprenticeship Training in their
respective regions comprising of states as given below :
